a couple things and merry christmas!

thing 1: had a great birthday on the 22nd. i am 23. weird. kason got me an awesome body *pillow which makes sleeping way easier. my mom and dad gave me a flip video camera. i was so shocked and excited. apparently my dad wants video of brooklyn so it can be all brooklyn all the time. thank you to everyone who thought of me on my birthday. i am so blessed with great family and friends!

thing 2: i had an ultrasound yesterday to check brooklyn's growth. she is doing great measuring in the 65% percentile weighing 3 lbs and is right on schedule. she showed us her sassy side by sticking her tongue out at us and then giving us the middle finger. they were trying to get her to move her hand so they could get a good picture of her but she was not having it. a girl with some attitude. that's our daughter! only three more months until we meet her!

thing 3: we had the annual jungle boy christmas party last night. it was great to see everyone and was so much fun. waffles, minute to win it games, and gift exchange. it was great! thanks to graham and jessica for being great hosts!

and merry christmas!

festivus 2011

we had our festivus celebration last night{even though festivus is technically the 23rd} and it was pretty awesome and totally legit complete with aluminum pole, feats of strength competitions, and some trashy gifts. if you don't know what festivus is you are not a seinfeld fan and if your not a seinfeld fan then you are not a part of kason's fam. this year we had a worst dressed winner and dave won hands down with his probably 20 year old sweat pants that had lost the elastic and had to be tied up with a rope. kason was looking pretty sweet with his tank top and mustache that made him look like kip from napoleon dynamite. it was nasty. kason and i dominated the feats of strength competitions. jaiden and i won the three legged race contest though i am not sure how because i have a problems walking with two legs. i won the thumb wrestling contest though i am pretty sure steve let me win. there is no way my little thumb really beat him. kason won the elbow wrestling and i am pretty sure gave the best worst gift so all in all it was a great festivus for us. unfortunately {or fortunately} we skipped the airing of grievances this year. guess i will have to wait until next year.

happy festivus 2011

i love thanksgiving

seriously i love it. i loved it before i was lucky enough to marry into the ashe fam and i love it even more now. 4 days of awesomeness. highlights = korean food, thanksgiving feasts, pies, golf ball shooter, football, soccer, games, smores, hot chocolate, pumpkin roll, rachael's cupcakes, christmas party, salsa, green chili, hot snacks, watching the kids play musical chairs blindfolded, winning pictionary, gracen, landon, van, and bennet's sweet dance moves, brooklyn's first christmas calendar, etc. i totally ate too much but don't feel as bad this year. i am suppose to gain weight right? does it matter that i gained a month's worth of weight in one week? it will all even out in the end. we also had some time just to relax and put up our christmas tree. this summer kason got a free 8 foot tree from someone from work who was getting rid of it. its about 20 years old but it looks great! bring on the christmas season!

brooklyn says hi + asheiversary #2

i finally figured out how to get pictures from my phone on to our computer. ok so kason did it, but that's what husbands are for. these are brooklyn's first pictures at 18 weeks. they are a little old as she will be at 24 weeks tomorrow. she is such a mover! i feel her all the time and kason can feel her too. she really starts moving when music is on or its really loud. we went to the suns game and the asu game last week and those noisy stadiums got her really moving. i like to think she is dancing already! but who knows maybe she is really hating all of the noise. we can't wait to meet her! march feels so far away!

and

kason and i have now been married for 2 years. last sunday, nov 14, was our 2nd anniversary. we didn't really do anything fantastic to celebrate just relaxed, enjoyed each others company and watched a lot of sports over the weekend. it was great! the last 2 years have been awesome and i know there are many more awesome years to come!

happy 2nd anniversary kason! i love you!

garden time

we replanted our garden once it started to cool down a bit a night and it is looking awesome. we expanded and i think this is our best one yet. one of our tomato plants is as tall as kason! i guess kason's southwest home gardening class is paying off.

20 weeks!

halfway point and i am starting to show a bit. i know, i know i need to post pictures. my mom took one today so its coming. our little girl is growing well and on her way to meet us in march. i had another ultrasound and she is measuring perfectly for my due date. not too big, not to small. i had to go to specialist* so the ultrasound pictures are even better. {if i get my hands on a scanner i will post those too.} the lady doing my ultrasound kept saying she is a a beautiful baby to scan. i am not sure what that means, but i am going to take it as she is one beautiful girl. one beautiful girl on the way.

* i had to go to a specialist because as the specialist doc put i have a weird looking placenta. i don't really know what they are suppose to look like, but apparently mine is a bit on the abnormal side. our little girl is fine and doing great and the doc said that most likely she won't be effected at all and all will be normal and well. however, there is a slight chance that it will effect her growth later on but they won't know until the 3rd trimester. most likely not a big deal but i am sure glad for modern medicine and great docs who notice and take care of the little things. i am just lucky i get more awesome ultrasounds!

Its a...

GIRL!

we are so excited and happy to have a baby girl entering our family! everything is looking good. she is measuring normal and is healthy and growing. she put on a show for us and was moving all over the place. she... i love saying that! she, our daughter, sounds so much better than "it". we are having a girl!

one trimester down

two more to go.

all i can say is i am so glad i am not an elephant. 9 months is long enough to be prego. i can't imagine 22 months! although, i am starting to feel like an elephant. i am not really showing or anything but i definitely feel fat or as kason says i am starting to "thicken". i can tell i am exiting the first trimester and entering the second. i am starting to get less sick and am starting to get my energy back. maybe i will start cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry again. i have been a total slacker lately. luckily i have an awesome husband who doesn't care if we eat frozen pizzas for dinner and will clean the whole apartment so when i come home friday after work everything is nice and clean.

life is good.

since my last post

a lot has happened. it has seriously flown by. 1st week of being hired = lots of boring meetings while trying not to puke on everyone. having my own classroom = awesome besides the fact that i am in a stinky portable in the far corner of campus. mean lady next door making me switch classrooms the day before school started just as i had everything set up and sat down to figure out what the heck i was going to teach my 200 students = stress and tears. yes i cried. in front of the assistant principal. stupid pregnncy hormones. mean lady getting in trouble for making me switch = priceless {ok so maybe i am the mean one but she totally deserved it.} mom, sisters, and husband who seriously saved my life by helping me get ready = amazing. having 40 plus kids in each class = crazy. trying to plan lessons for a course i have never taught before and being all organized and acting like i know what i am doing while this first trimester thing is sucking all of my energy = more craziness and exhaustion. being a real teacher and enjoying going to work despite all of the craziness = happiness.

feeling blessed, life is good

1.) its true i am pregnant. not sure who did that last post because it wasn't me. most likely culprit is kason. we are so excited! a tad surprised, but excited! as of right now i am about 8 weeks. due around march 12. i will get my official due date at my next appointment. so blessed!

2.) i got a job. westwood called me today and i got the job. i am going to be a new world history teacher at westwood high school! i have a lot of work to do but i am excited. so blessed!

life is good

Thursday, July 8, 2010

you're pathetic when...

you read all seven Harry Potter books in less than 4 weeks because you have nothing else better to do with your life. unfortunately that is me. i really need a job. anybody have one for me?

and those HP books are still good. any book recommendations to last me through july?

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

july 4th means

celebrating this great country and going to our cabin in bluewater nm. i love it there. cool weather, nature's beauty, family, games, good food, relaxing, and tons of fireworks. i think kason and barry had a little to much fun with the fireworks. barry got hit a couple times. minor injuries but a lot of fun. i totally won phase 10. i never win anything so when i do it is awesome. good times.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

i made an apple pie

and it was awesome. crust, filling, everything from scratch. i am kind of proud of myself. fresh picked apples that harleigh, savannah, and david helped me pick = yummy! so good!

sorry no pics kelsie. i forgot to take them. me = bad blogger. oh well.

a trip to the lake

saturday kason and took a trip to canyon lake with barry +karissa, eric +jentry, and matt + taylor. {kenzi was at work. sad.} it was fun hanging out, swimming, and fishing. unfortunately i didn't catch anything but a rock. those fish were tricky but i'll get them next time. we still had a great time. thanks for the invite bk brown!

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

we went to the dbacks game last night

and it was actually a really good game. they scored 5 runs in the first inning and totally beat the yankees. it was awesome watching all of the yankee fans leave when they realized there was no way they were going to win. it was one of the best baseball games i have been to in a while. we had fun.

and a word to the wise

if you make salsa and handle jalapenos make sure you wear gloves. especially if you just used acetone to take you nail polish off. me not following this advice = days of burning hands and fingers, jalapeno in my eyes, no sleep, pain, and kason thinking i am weird because i slept with a cool wet rag to keep the burning sensation down. {i thought i was being smart}

Friday, June 11, 2010

mr. + mrs. brown

barry is officially our bro in law and we couldn't be happier. how two best friends ended up marrying sisters we will never know but we are so excited. everything was fabulous yesterday and we are so happy for them. congrats karissa and barry!

the crazy life and an island escape

wow so its been forever since i last updated. life has been crazy. kason has been busy getting through the last bit of the semester and finals. one more semester down! woo hoo! work has kept me busy too. at mesa its also the end of the semester which means end of the year projects, concerts, finals, etc. i have been adding to my collection of crazy experiences. i am really glad i had the opportunity to sub this semester. i have learned a lot and have seen and experienced just about everything. seriously you can't make this stuff up. kids are nutty. a couple weeks ago i found poop just outside the door behind the gym. that's right poop. and i'm pretty sure it wasn't from a dog. two of my students stepped in it. i had to call the front office and tell them to send someone over to clean it up. after that i really needed a vacation.

luckily kason and i got to escape the crazy life right after his finals and head to hawaii with his fam. amazing! the weather was perfect, the beach was perfect, the island was perfect. seriously amazing!

the amazing:

deep sea fishing {kason}
catching a mahi {kason}
eating mahi {kason}
dole pineapple plantation
pineapple ice cream {kali}
beach
snorkeling
boogie boarding
message at the spa {kali}
polyneisian cultural center
vip canoe ride from kason's mission buddy
luau
pearl harbor
touring a battleship
pineapple and passion fruit jam
ted's bakery
plate lunches
matsumoto's shaved ice
waimea valley park
family
cute nieces and nephews

not as amazing but still amazing because its hawaii:

patti and dave's flight canceled
luggage left in LA
sea sick {kason}

it was a fantastic trip and i plan on posting pictures soon. aloha!

dear suns

the win last night was good. please don't bring the suns team that showed up sunday to anymore games. leave them at home. we like to watch the team that played last night so even if we do stay up too late watching the game and end up being late to work the next morning we won't feel too bad.

look at our garden grow part 2

our garden is growing! our peanuts are starting to poke through, we have 14 tomatoes growing, a couple peppers are starting to grow, and our cucumber plants look awesome! we have two strawberries growing but they are kind of deformed and we have no idea what we are doing with the onions. we are loving our garden and its looking good. kason is on his way to fulling his dream of becoming a farmer. if you didnt know deep down kason wants nothing more than to own acres and acres of land and have a huge garden. yay for gardens!

more spring break fun

more spring break fun #1: thursday night kason and i went on a little staycation to the arizona grand resort. it was so nice relaxing and sleeping in a king size bed. kason and i decided that the first thing we are going to save up for is a king size bed. {we will enjoy our 100lb tv with antenna that hit you in the head as you walk in and midget size couches with holes in them for a while. first thing on thing on the list is a bed. not that we aren't thankful to harleigh for letting us use hers. its just well, we need space. you understand.} at the resort they had a water park with some pretty crazy water slides. kason went on them and i, well, here's the story. first i went on the short turning one. slides that are not very high = fun. next kason convinced me to climb the 8 story stair case to go down the big one. i got half way up the stairs turned around and walked back down. after a pep talk from kason i attempted the stairs again. this time i made it to the top and waited my turn as 10 year olds fearlessly went down the nearly vertical slides. sooner than i wanted, it was my turn. the lifeguard lady turned to ask me if i had been down them before so she could instruct me how to do it properly. her question quickly turned into a statement, "you look terrified". and i was. {as i kid i went down those stupid bonzi slides once at sunsplash and hated it and to this day i am terrified of those slides.} i got in the slide ready to go and inched myself forward. i looked down at the drop and i couldn't do it. i pulled myself back up the slide and started crying. that's right i cried. i was so scared of the stupid slide i cried. i got up and let the 8 year old behind me go down and motioned to kason to come up and get me. he laughed a bit and told me i didn't have to go down it. me = biggest dork in the world. new goal = next time i see one of those slides i am going down. despite my failure to defeat my fear of the slide the day at the resort was pretty fun and i enjoyed it.

more spring break fun #2: last night we went to the suns game. even though we were a few rows from the top it was still awesome. we seriously had a blast. if any of you were watching the pre game show you might have seen us cheering for our suns in the background. that's right we were on t.v. i know, awesome.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

we skate

we busted out our blades yesterday and well it was awesome. kason had told me about his days in elementary school and jr high as an extreme skater but until i saw the tricks i didn't know how extreme he was. lets just say i was impressed by the jumps and grinds. i showed him my tricks but i don't think they were as impressive. {however if the rest of my blading gang was there we would have busted out an awesome routine that only a few have seen. you girls know what i am talking about.} moral of the story is: we skate and its awesome.

look at our garden grow

day one of spring break = gardening. our little patio garden is starting to look pretty good. we added cucumber, strawberry, onions, peanuts, and updated our flowers. that's right, peanuts. we are really excited about plants!

our baby tomato

our tomato plant has finally given us a baby tomato! it started to ripen this week and we were so excited when we got to harvest it and eat it in our salad last night. nothing is better than a real garden salad. that's right, you're looking at home grown garden lettuce and tomatoes! yum!
